Our Story
In the early 1800’s, the Old Firehall took its place in Unionville and remains an iconic landmark.
Today, the Old Firehall Confectionery is a well-established staple within our community with our flagship store in Unionville and second location in Kleinburg, offering a selection of handcrafted artisanal chocolates and confections.
Known as a sweet destination for family, friends, and acquaintances, we meet the needs of everyone including those living free of peanuts, gluten, sugar and of course, vegans.
More About Our History
Our open concept kitchen is a contemporary environment that defines classic charm. Our locally employed chocolatiers specialize in award winning, hand painted truffles, chocolates and classic confections. We strive for high quality products while delivering impeccable customer service evidenced by the multiple awards our community has helped us win.
Together with our community, the Old Firehall Confectionery has been awarded prestigious titles from companies including YELP for “Top 100 Business in North America”, Trip Advisor Excellence, and Best Chocolate/Candy/Ice Cream Shop in Markham by Readers Choice Awards. Some of these awards include, Best Cake from the Canadian Chocolate Masters, Best Chocolatier in Ontario (thank you to our staff) best original chocolate centrepiece, best design from the Canadian Restaurant and Food Association and best macaroons from Canada’s Baking and Sweet Show.
A phenomenal byproduct of being women entrepreneurs and the owners of the Old Firehall Confectionery is the ability to give back to the community which has played a key role in our success. We believe in strong community involvement and giving back and have contributed to the Shania Twain Breakfast program, along with supporting Hand over Hand, Markham Stouffville Hospital and 360 Kids. As mothers of artists, we recognize a need to provide a supportive environment for those young at heart to perform and live their dream. No strings attached!
